Sahlen’s and Variety Team Up for “Heart Dogs” Promotion at Local Restaurants to Support 55th Annual Variety Kids Telethon
LANCASTER, N.Y. – Sahlen Packing Company, Inc. and Variety – the Children’s Charity of Buffalo and Western New York have teamed up in creating a “Heart Dog” promotion at local restaurants to support the 55th Annual Variety Kids Telethon. Restaurant goers will be able to donate $1 to the Telethon in exchange for signing their name on a paper hot dog that will be displayed at the restaurant. The promotion has already started and will continue until the Telethon.
“Heart Dogs” will be available for purchase at your favorite hot dog vendors that carry Sahlen’s products. Mark Battistoni, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sahlen’s, calls the “Hearts Dogs” a “tasty way to give” to the Telethon. All donations for “Heart Dogs” will be matched dollar for dollar by Sahlen’s, allowing individuals to double their donation dollars. In addition, Sahlen’s will also match all donations that participating restaurants give to the Telethon above whatever is raised through “Heart Dog” sales. The program will be expanded to additional restaurants that sell Sahlen’s products in future months and is expected to be an on-going fundraiser for years to come.
Joseph Sahlen, owner of the family-run business that was started in Buffalo in 1869, is the 2017 Telethon Honorary Chairman, and he has been a long-time supporter of Variety. As Honorary Chair, Mr. Sahlen is stepping up the company’s support. The iconic hot-dog brand is a natural fit with the Telethon’s 2017 theme, “Variety is WNY,” which captures the deep community effort to raise funds for Western New York’s sick, disabled, and disadvantaged children.
