Variety of Buffalo & WNY to Present Checks from $1.01 Million Telethon to Recipient Organizations at ‘Buffalo in Black’ Event on October 22, 2016

LANCASTER, N.Y. — Variety – The Children’s Charity of Buffalo and WNY will present the checks from its $1.01 million 2016 Variety Kids Telethon to beneficiary organizations, including Women and Children’s Hospital and more than a dozen local children’s charities, on October 22, 2016 as part of an exclusive ‘Buffalo in Black’ fundraiser. The event is the culmination of Variety’s year-long fundraising efforts and represents the organization’s raison d’être.
In addition to presenting the recipient organizations with their funds, Variety will also honor the 2016 Celebrity Child, Ashton Smith of Salamanca, and the 2017 Celebrity Children, twins Kelly and Kyle Hoffman of Pendleton. These Celebrity Kids provide a face for the sick, disabled, and disadvantaged children in Western New York, and they reflect the diversity of families that Variety serves across the region. The recipients of the 2016 Variety Kids Telethon awards are: Women & Children’s Hospital, the Robert Warner M.D. Rehab Center, Big Brother Big Sister, Bornhava, Camp Good Days, CHC Learning Center, Children’s Growth Foundation, Cradle Beach, Excalibur Leisure Skills, JCC of Buffalo, Music is Art, Police Athletic League, SABAH, St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, YMCA Genesee County, the Franciscan Center, and Baker Victory Services.
‘Buffalo in Black’, presented by Russell and Amanda Salvatore, Sue and Ed Militello, Paul and Paula Cambria, and Chris Dire will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, casino gaming, and live music by the Stella Band at the Executive Airshare, with proceeds to benefit the Variety Club.
