Variety has been in Western New York for 82 years, and have we got a story to tell! From our history-making Telethon, now in its 55th year, to the millions of children we’ve helped and the hundreds of thousands of Western New Yorkers who have made our mission possible, we are proud to say that Variety is WNY!
We Are Western New York.
Variety’s history in Western New York is proud, rich and enduring. From humble roots to our history-making Telethon, we have rallied millions of Western New Yorkers to our cause. Our mission to transform, uplift, and enrich the lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children right here in WNY brings together people from all walks of life and unites residents of the eight counties around protecting our most precious asset – our children.
Our theme for the 2017 Telethon – “Variety is WNY” – highlights the broad reach of our work, and the logo captures the heart of what we do.
From our loyal friends who sell candy bars at shopping centers and nursing homes, attend events at our Clubhouse and other locations, and annually send in donations, our supporters are WNY.
From the local retailers who sell red hearts at their checkout counters to the schools, unions, and fire companies who fundraise on our behalf and the companies who commit to corporate matches on the Telethon, our partners are WNY.
From the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who sell car raffle tickets at the mall, pour beer and cook hot dogs at Cruise Nights, and stuff and mail envelopes, our volunteers are WNY.
And most importantly, from the premature infants struggling to stay alive at WCHOB and the other children who receive care at the hospital, including our current and past Celebrity Children from Pendleton, Salamanca, Youngstown and other towns, to the special kids attending camp, learning to play hockey, and benefitting from other Variety-funded programs and equipment, our children are WNY.
We are so proud to call this place home because of all of YOU kind and caring supporters who help our region’s treasured children. Please join us in our work and be sure to watch the Telethon on April 2, 2017 on WKBW-TV from 7 am to 7 pm!
